I believe that every person is important and each has a story that deserves to be told. In the words of Walt Whitman: "That you are here, that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse."
Your story and the stories of those you love, are each unique and relevant. The power of a photograph is that it can bring us into that story. An image can convey how the person feels and what is happening. An image can show us confidence, vulnerability, family connection, gratitude, fun, and my favorite, love. A photograph can tell your story.
Seeing the tears from one of my brides as she listened to a love letter read at her reception, penned by her great grandfather to her great grandmother, was a moment I will never forget. Or seeing the bride's father kiss her on the cheek as he gave her away, realizing his baby girl is all grown up. And then there was the grandmother who couldn't hold back the tears as she saw her granddaughter in her wedding dress, thankful she was alive to be at her wedding. And the father who wasn't supposed to walk his daughter down the aisle because he had cancer but against the odds, had beat it. All of these moments captured in a single photograph that are theirs to keep forever.
Knowing how significant your life is and what it means to those that love you, it means that much more that I am invited into the lives of my clients every day to tell their stories, in a way that reflects their true selves. It is a privilege I cherish.
